View south: Breaking out of the redwood groves into open grassland, we’ll be dipping down to Redwood Creek, then climbing steeply again. This is just giving us a tantalizing taste of the views to the south. Mission Peak is in the center of the photo. Shasta was collecting all sorts of weed seeds in her fur. Not wanting to have a foxtail incident, we kept a sharp eye on her for any sign of limping.
