Climbing above Martinez: The “California Riding and Hiking Trail” climbed quickly through oak woodlands, spilling out of a small canyon onto grassy meadows. Although it was a gray day, the clouds were high, and we had fair visibility. This is looking almost due north, towards Martinez and the eastern bridge over the Carquinez Strait.
